Deal to give Queens coffee maker double shot

Fast-growing Shock Coffee partnered with one of the nation’s largest roasters and distributors in a deal to help the Queens-based company expand. Best known for its “hyper-caffeinated” coffee brewed in convenience stores and specialty coffee shops, Shock tapped Concord, N.C.-based S&D Coffee Inc. to roast and distribute its beans because of its vast distribution network, Shock founder and President Jeffrey Rosen said.

“It’s kind of like a marriage made in heaven,” he said. “With their distribution network, they’re going to bring us to the next level.” Shock’s sales have tripled in recent years, as the number of outlets selling its line of beans and prepackaged coffee products has skyrocketed, from several hundred a few years ago to several thousand today, Mr. Rosen said. He said S&D will help sell his coffees and drinks in more convenience stores and offices and should boost Shock’s growth by 20% to 30%.
